PARIS

In 1979, Madonna became part of Patrick Hernandez' disco revue. She stayed there for half a year after which her mentor Hernandez sent her to a singing teacher in Paris where her first (unreleased) demo tapes were produced

Karen Cheryl confirms on French TV today: ''Madonna was Patrick Hernandez's girlfriend''

French singer Karen Cheryl in today's French TV show "Les Grands du Rire" on French channel FRANCE 3 tells again the story about Madonna dancing for her for 3 months after one of her dancers was hurt:

"Madonna danced for me for 3 months. I had a big TV show to do live at "La Maison de la Radio" that night, a Guy Lux show. One of my dancers was hurt and couldn't do the choreography. Madonna was Patrick Hernandez's girlfriend. My producer knew Patrick Hernandez's producer who said that he knew a litte American girl with a lot of energy who, if Karen shows her the steps, will learn quickly the choreography. Madonna came with a chewing-gum... It was for the song "Show me you're man enough"." ("La Marche des Machos" in French)

This show "Les Grands du Rire" is broadcasted again tomorrow, Sunday 23 March, in the night on FRANCE 3 at 2:55 am. (Monday morning)

Patrick Hernandez: "Madonna did not want to sing"

Patrick Hernandez was also a guest in the French TV show "Les Grands du Rire" on French channel FRANCE 3 and talked about Madonna just before Karen Cheryl (read here). The show was broadcasted again this morning:

"I've talked to her a lot about it because I found that she had a pretty voice and, at that time, she did not want to hear anything about it."

Madonna did shows with Patrick Hernandez for "Born To Be Alive" in 1979.
